Opera Dresden: Semperoper
The Saxon State Opera (Semperoper) is home of the Saxon Staatskapelle, one of the most prestigious orchestras in Europe with the former Conductor-of-Honor Sir Collin Davis (+2013).
The high artistic level of these days is defined by chief conductor Christian Thielemann.
Numerous operas were premiered here, such as Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner or Salome and Elektra by Richard Strauss.

Gewandhaus, the Leipzig Opera and world-famous St. Thomas Boys Choir
Leipzig's musical tradition is truly exceptional. This is the city where Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert and Clara Schumann all worked, and where Richard Wagner was born and received his musical training.
And musical history is still being written in Leipzig today, with world-famous ensembles performing to audiences throughout the city, whether in the Gewandhaus, in St. Thomas Church or the Opera.
